Joint Proceedings
A judgment is sometimes necessary, for example to:
- Obtain a divorce
- Modify a judgment when the situation has changed
- Get a mediation agreement homologated
When you agree on the outcome, you can assign only one lawyer to prepare the legal documents. This way, you can reduce and share the costs.
For a judgment modification, there are programs for a very economical, or even free way to proceed. To learn more about these options, see the article on Service d’aide à l’homologation (SAH).

Collaborative Law
Collaborative law is a process by which parties and their lawyers agree to negotiate together, strictly outside of court. In this way, everyone commits to resolving impasses collaboratively rather than having them decided by judges.
The main benefits of this approach having legal representation, without the stress, delays and costs of the courts. Those who participate also retain more control over their divorce or separation agreements.
In Quebec, to properly practice collaborative law, lawyers undergo rigorous training and are members of the Groupe de droit collaboratif du Québec.
If you have any questions or would like me to represent you in a collaborative law process, please communicate with me.
